Mariam

Phoolon ne mehekna seekha, nehron ne behna —
aur humne, ek doosre ke ho jaana.

Nishayn se Walima tak
💍 Nishayn · Engagement
The families exchange rings, shirini and duas as Mariam and Hamza are formally promised to each other.
🌿 Maenziraat · Mehndi Night
The Kashmiri mehndi night — henna winds around the bride's hands as the wanwun (traditional wedding songs) rises from the courtyard, with noon chai and kulcha all round.
🤲 Qur'an Khwani & Dua
An intimate morning of tilawat and dua-e-khair at home, seeking Allah's blessings for the journey ahead.
🕊️ Nikah & Rukhsati
With the Qazi, the vakeel and our witnesses, Mariam and Hamza say Qubool Hai beneath the chinars — followed by dua-e-khair and a tearful, joyful rukhsati.
🍛 Walima · Wazwan Daawat
The groom's family hosts the grand walima — a royal Kashmiri wazwan served on the trami: rista, rogan josh, tabak maaz, gushtaba, and phirni to finish.
Ek Bagh, Do Maali
It began on the steps of Kashmir University, arguing over whose notes were neater — and ended with shared kahwa at Chai Jaai on the Bund, every single evening. From shikara rides at sunset on Dal Lake to chasing autumn chinars at Naseem Bagh, from the saffron fields of Pampore to noon chai at home with both families laughing together — our dosti grew, season by season, into dua. Today, in a four-hundred-year-old Mughal garden where nehrein still flow, we plant something of our own. Insha'Allah, forever.
